Sara Martin, M.A. CCC – SLP

Speech-language pathologist Sara Martin works with clients to help improve their quality of life through better communication.

Sara holds her national certification through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Sara earned her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Eastern Michigan University and has worked with adults and children.

Sara launched her private practice, Speech With Sara LLC, in June 2016.

Previously, Sara worked with students in Detroit Public Schools ranging in age from preschoolers through age 20. Speech-Language Pathology is a second career for Sara, who spent more than a decade as a journalist in daily newspapers and later in web-based media. Sara earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Bowling Green State University.

Intervention at Speech With Sara LLC is done with parents and families in mind. Comprehensive evaluation provides valuable information about areas of need with a student and goals are established in conjunction with the family. In addition to one-on-one therapy, carryover work is assigned to help effect change with children as quickly as possible.

Evidence-based practice methods are a focus. Sara is continually seeking out professional development/continuing education to further her knowledge as well as stay up-to-date on the most recent research. Sara has been a two time recipient of the ASHA ACE Award for exceeding necessary continuing education hours for certification maintenance requirements.

Sara is certified in Hanen Centre’s It Takes Two to Talk and More Than Words programs; trained in Lively Letters & Sight Words You Can See programs; and trained in orofacial myology.

Additionally, she is a member of the Michigan Speech Language Hearing Association, The Family Center of Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods Association of Professionals, the International Association of Orofacial Myology and the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce.
